About the Artist

Paul Oz is an explosive portrait artist and sculptor focused on maximum impact and energy. Recent shows have included The Art of Star Wars, a sellout show during Singapore’s FI Week, ROAR! Safari, and a 80s-inspired solo show at the Intimate Modern London.

Oz is also the official artist for Muhammad Ali, Bruce Lee and Thunderbirds. His works have been commissioned the likes of Pirelli’s Paul Hembery, Red Bull, Sir Brad Wiggins, Instituto Ayrton Senna and James Hunt, and he’s partnered with galleries, charitable organizations, leading rights holders and motorsport teams worldwide. “I’m perhaps not a textbook artist,” he has said. “My entire aim is for visual impact, to capture characters in a unique way that blows your socks off and to illicit a response something along the lines of ‘Woooohhhhaaa!’”

He lives in Cheltenham, United Kingdom.

What is your relationship with Star Trek?

It was one of just a few TV shows I was allowed to watch growing up with a very strict stepdad!

How would you describe your style in general?

Explosive impasto, aiming for the maximum 3D impression and almost abstract up close.

How quickly/easily, or not, did your concept come to you? And how long did it take from start to finish to complete the piece?

The concept was in my head immediately ... and there was around 10 days’ work on the piece.

What else about your piece do you think Star Trek fans should know?

It’s all about the eyes...
