How would you describe your piece?

This piece features my three favorite characters from The Original Series on the teleporter deck, preparing for a new mission. I drew constellations formed by stars to create the teleporting effect from The Original Series.

In creating your artwork for the exhibition, what was your inspiration? How did you decide on the concept? What did you seek to accomplish with this artwork?

As a child, the teleporter always represented endless possibilities for me as the crew traveled to various planets and encountered diverse lifeforms. As a result, I used space constellations and teleporting as part of my design. My aim with this artwork was to recreate the feeling of exploration and adventure.

What is your favorite Star Trek series? Do you have a favorite characters? What do you like most about them?

The original Star Trek series is my favorite because I would watch it every day after school with my family. My favorite character is Captain Kirk because I liked that William Shatner was Canadian like me.

What excited you most about the opportunity to get involved in this Star Trek 50th anniversary art project?

Star Trek is a huge cultural phenomenon, which is exciting in itself. However, the nostalgia of growing up watching Star Trek makes this project particularly special to me. I’m truly honored to take part in this milestone anniversary.
