On my second wedding anniversary, we threw a Voyager viewing party at our house to celebrate not our getting married but the premiere of Star Trek: Voyager. I don't remember what we served for food but it was probably pizza. But I do remember being excited that the Star Trek universe continued to live on after Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine. While not every episode was a winner, the pilot certainly setup a great premise: although we are explorers, we need to find a way home.
We met a Caretaker and several new races. We formed allies with our enemies to fight against a stronger enemy and in the process realized that we are very much the same at the core.
We met our first female captain. We met our first EMH. We said goodbye to safety and really began the mission to explore strange new world and go where we had never gone before.
